Priya's Seven Strings

Our Philosophy

"Explore the Divine Instrument through Endless learning"

At Priya’s Seven Strings, music is more than learning notes — it is a journey into tradition, discipline, devotion, and self-expression. We believe music is for everyone - making it accessible, relevant and inspiring for today’s generation, across cultures and borders.

Meet the Mentor

Priya Prakasam, a passionate Veena artiste, is the founder & Director of Priya’s Seven Strings. She started learning at the age of 11 with her Guru Mrs.Banumathy Nagarajan at Kalai Kaviri College of Fine Arts, India and earned Graduate certification. Later she rediscovered her passion & now learns under Guru Veena Vidhwamani Srinivas Dupiala. Her special interests include Music album production in Carnatic & fusion music, preserving the essence of classical compositions. In collaboration with other artist and music schools, there has been an annual release of Music album focussing on Veena.

The Experience

Artistry is cultivated, not rushed.

The Veena carries a sacred resonance — one that echoes devotion, discipline, and divine grace. Each note holds centuries of tradition, and each vibration connects us to something greater than ourselves. In a world that moves quickly, the Veena teaches us to slow down - to listen, to refine, to surrender to the purity of tone. Veena is not simply taught but honored, understood & brought to life.

I have been learning Veena for the past year, and it’s been a truly fulfilling journey. Priya (my guru) is incredibly passionate and patient, which makes every class both enjoyable and encouraging. One thing I really appreciate is how she gives every student the opportunity to perform on stage, which has greatly boosted my confidence. I’ve always had a passion for learning traditional Indian instruments, and I’m so glad I found this opportunity to pursue it with such a dedicated guru.

I’ve been Priya’s student for over 6 years, and she is truly one of the most sincere and dedicated teachers I’ve ever met. She puts immense effort into ensuring her students(both adults and kids), not only learn well but genuinely enjoy the process and stay motivated. She makes learning feel effortless, but behind the scenes she spends countless hours refining her own skills and curating songs tailored to each student’s interests. Her support goes far beyond lessons, from helping with purchasing a veena if needed, to being incredibly accommodating with class schedules and makeup sessions, to preparing students for grade exams, which really helps maintain motivation and steady progress in the veena journey.
